Back to Stoke Bruerne

26th – Ron and Lyn Day 3 – The way back to Stoke Bruerne

Sailing back to Stoke Bruerne

So it turns out that the ASDA was a small one (phew) and it had air conditioning (phew again) and I got stuck dog sitting (hmpf) while they all sodded off to shop! Anyway, we needed to sail for a mile or so to turn round and then head on back to Stoke Bruerne – and we needed to keep in mind that the locks close at 15:00 – which we did not. So, in fact about an hour out from the locks we stopped for a sandwich (Wendy’s idea – no really, it was her) and that meant we arrived 15 minutes too late and had to spend the night at the bottom of the locks. We met up with a lovely couple and decided to go through the locks together with them, which is always easier.

Walking to the pub at Stoke Bruerne

So we had a 25 minute walk up to the pub and the Hobgoblin was off!!! What is it with Marstons pubs! It seems every one I go in the bloody Hobgoblin is off or run out – and its my favorite beer !!
