Back to Weedon

27th – 31st – Ron and Lyn Day 4/5 and Weedon Again

Back to Weedon where the last time we were here the dog exploded.

We sailed back with Ron and Lyn to the marina and we decided to stay the night so that they could set off home early in the morning. Out plans now were to sail back up past Weedon and up the flight of 7 locks and then take the Leicester arm of the grand union and then work our way up. So we said out goodbyes and set sail to Weedon in the pouring rain.

My morning view at Weedon – it really is a lovely place if a bit noisy.

The next day the sun was out and it was looking lovely. There is a train running right alongside the canal here so it is a bit noisy, but after a while we stopped noticing it. We set of quite early as the locks around here are all on a limited time opening, between 10:00 and 16:00 and we wanted to get onto the Leicester arm today. First, though, we need to pop into the vets and get Honey checked out and buy some more steroids for her.

We got up the locks (eventually) and during that part of the journey it stated to chuck it down – a real deluge. We also ran into a bit of a queue at the last lock and was hanging around a lot. Wendy and another chap we’d hooked up with for the last lock ended up helping a number of boats through the lock – some of them seemed to feel it was their duty to do it for them! Anyway, once through we filled up with water and then sailed for another 30 minutes or so onto the Leicester arm and moored for the night. Lets hope the weather is a bit better tomorrow!
