3rd – 5th September 2019 – Burton-upon-Trent

We stayed a bit longer in Willington than Steve and Caroline, so we said our goodbyes and they set off to Barton-upon-Trent. We then got a call from them saying that there was a load of mooring available and the place seemed quite nice – so the next day we set off to join them. It’s not very far and we took it nice a slow. The canal is very pretty and there was some lovely countryside to go through. In fact, even when you get to the town the canal is very quite and peaceful and green.

Odd looking geese! They seem pissed off at something!
Barton-upon-Trent is a very impressive town with lots of old buildings, many closely associated with the essential process of brewing proper real ales. It also has a decent shopping centre and a really quaint old indoor market housed in a striking old building.
