17th July 2019 – Evesham Marina to Offenham Lock

Evesham marina was great and the service was friendly and really good. We are now full of Diesel, Water and Electricity and the loo is pumped clean! The river is still in RED, which is a bad thing but it is only just red, so we’re going to sail against the tide (which is safer than with the tide) and see how we get on. To be honest even through the river is not ideal it is lovely to finally be moving on again!

So, sometimes life has a way of showing you how little you know. I was expecting a plain old lock and a bit of mooring, but once we got to the lock, after a few places where the river was taxing my little engine, we were delighted to find it was lovely with plenty of public mooring and waste disposal – such a shock!
When we go to the lock, we found a couple of boaters already there, in fact they’d been there for the last 6 days!! Stuck while the river was flooding. If you look at the picture above, on the right you can see the flood poles, well the water was about half way up! Anyway, we were the first boat they had seen in the past 6 days!! Go Arty!!

A monument to the creator of the lock and a number of other features along the river.
