16th-17th August 2019 – Leicester City Centre

So on the first day in Leicester we walked into the city centre (about 10 minutes away) and went into the main shopping area, which is huge. Before getting down to some serious retail therapy, Wendy wanted to explore the city a bit. So we decided to have a walk about and then make our way to the Richard III centre. They had recently found his body buried under a tarmac car park and have now make a big feature of it.

The oldest pub in Leicester – and I never got to go!!!
The churchy thing with Richard’s body entombed
The man himself!
A cobbled alley leading to the church
A very modern shopping experience
Specialist curry house – very nice food too!
A whole street dedicated to food – lovely
One of the poshist cinemas I’ve ever seen
The Richard III centre was extremely well done and actually very interesting to visit. So on returning to the boat we arrange with Steve and Caroline to go for a meal together, but later on that day the rain and wind sort of scuppered that and we ended up settling in for the night! But, for anyone thinking of sailing into Leicester – do it! The place is lovely and very impressive and we had no trouble at all.
