11th-12th August 2019 – Fleckney

We stayed an extra day in Foxton, but moved up to the moorings at the bottom of the locks. Its very nice here and we will sit out the crap weather, then we will continue up the GU Leicester branch to Fleckney and moor for the night as there is a shop nearby where we can get some supplies.
Foxton locks is really pretty and has lots of pubs and places to eat, all really well maintained, so it was a really nice place to stay for the night.

A great pub (we never went in)
Another pub, a bit pricey bit I had my Birthday meal there!
So in the morning we went to fill with water (we were moored right next to a water point) and discovered the water was not working – it turns out there is a bad leak in an earlier water mast and it is reducing all the others to a trickle. Luckily the marina we are calling at for a pump out do water too. These things are now part of our lives – water, pump out and shops are the main part of any planning we do!
So after filling with water and getting pumped out we sailed through the Saddington tunnel, which is quite short and easy to naviagate we arrived at Flexkney only to discover moorings are like hens teeth! Luckily we managed to get on to some mooring just before bridge 74. Someone managed to moor right in the middle of it so that there was not enough room before or after, but they were just leaving as we got there. I moored right on the end, so there was enough room for another boat behind us – what a good boy I am! We then crossed the fields into Fleckney.

Feel the power of my “Badger Bits” as Emma calls them!
Pretty but the weeds are taking over!
The whole of this Leister branch has been am absolute pleasure to sail along
My garden on the boat!
Walking to the shops at Fleckney
Nice little villiage
Yes, it has pubs but we hardly go in pubs these days
