24th July 2020 – Gailey Locks – first locks on the Staffy

After a good nights rest, with the afterglow of the pub and its lovely burgers still lingering in our mind, we set of for Penkridge where will hope to meet up with Steve and Caroline before we part at the end of the Staffy. The sailing was lovely, but unlike the Shroppy the Staffy has lots of bends! It also likes to drop bridges on tight bends just to keep you on your toes! Still, overall it is very picturesque and rural in the most part.
We discovered just after the first lock we have encountered on the Staffy that the boat yard before Penkridge was closed after 13:00 for pumpouts, and we really are keen to get pumpped out sooner rather than later, so we decided to stop for the day and then we can carry on tomorrow into Penkridge where we will stay for a couple of days before setting off again on Monday. We will pump out on route so we will not need to do that again until we get back to Aston Marina.
