27th June 2020 – In the middle of all the locks at Hassall Green

After the tunnel and a few locks, we started the day full of gusto. The forecast was for rain – lots of rain and thunder too! Well, its nice to not get too hot, especially as we’ve been well baked in the last few days. We decided to press on and then see where we could find to moor up for the day. Hmm, with good old hindsight we may have done a bit more research! It turns out that, when the CRT put the mooring icons on the map – they are telling you that this is the only place you are likely to find mooring! Ho Hum.
We ended up doing a few more locks than we originally planned, but it is Sunday tomorrow and we will have the day off π We pressed on and eventually found some mooring just after lock 56 (12 locks in one day is plenty) and stopped. Then the rain came down! And did it pour! And what was awesome was we were sailing just ahead of it all day π A boat came along about 10 minutes after we stopped and asked us if we’d been drenched like they had – and we hadn’t! Boom – SMUG MODE!!

So, Monday we have another 12 locks before we reach a boat yard for a pumpout and some diesel and then on for some water. Wendy insists we have to do some laundry too – so that will require careful planning on the water side of things.
