27th August 2019 – Kegworth

After lazing around in Loughborough and enjoying the convenience of a big town on your doorstep, we decided to move along. Now, the issue at the moment is the canal becomes the river soar until it hits the Trent river, which then becomes the Trent and Mersey if you go west, or remains the Trent river if you go east towards Nottingham. I think I may have mentioned that I am not keen on rivers. Whilst they are dramatic and very beautiful they also lack mooring and so put a lot of pressure on you to travel. So we decided to try and break the jaunt to the Trent and Mersey canal by stopping at Kegworth.

Sailing away from Loughbourgh
Filling up at the slowest water tap in the world!

A lovely church by the river.
Constant reminders that rivers flood!
Tosser at the helm!
Rivers are stonkingly beautiful
Arty, all moored up at Kegworth
We need to decide now if we are going east or west once we hit the Trent river junction. Either way, we’ll be on the Trent river or the Trent and Mersey canal.
