6th/8th August 2019 – Market Harborough

Foxton Locks is a very well maintained place. It is clear that the CRT consider it one of their main attractions on the network. They have put a lot of effort into making it a family orientated location with lots of things to do besides go up and down in the locks. After staying the night we sailed under the bridge which is immediately before the locks and joined the queue. And it was quite a queue. With steps like these it is normal for those organising things to send a number of boats up or down in groups. With each boat needing about 45 minutes to pass all the locks, they often batch the craft in groups of 5 or 10 boats.
We just missed getting in the first 10 that were send down, so we had to wait for them to finish, then for 5 to come up (who had waited over 3 hours!!), then we’d get our turn. So, quite a wait!

We decided once again to take a bit of a detour from the GU and pop down to Market Harborough to take a look around and get some shopping to top up our dwindling supplies. We were advised by some lovely people we were queueing with to book a moring with the Union Wharf which is right at the end of the arm, which we did. Little did we know that it is immediately outside of a pub!!
