30th June 2020 – Our first day on the Shropshire Union
After the last few days on the T&M which was a bit dull and full of locks, the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Canal was a delight. We immediately hit a lock on turning off the T&M, but before that we stopped right on the corner to fill up with water – what an odd place to put a tap! Anyhoo we then went through the first lock (or last depending on your direction) and then sailed past some lovely houses with amazing gardens! What a lovely start to this part of our journey.
We are going stop for the night about a quarter of the way along the branch, near to some lakes where there is some proper mooring (according to the book!) as it looks very peaceful, then the next day we will be popping into a Marina to get a pumpout and some diesel and water so we are all set for the Shropshire Canal proper tomorrow.
