Middlewich Branch Day 2&3

1st-2nd July 2020 – TLC for Arty at Aqueduct Marina

Aqueduct Marina had a very nice service pontoon, but they are a little pricey!
One of a couple of locks on the branch

The Middlewich branch of the Shropshire is lovely and peaceful and only has a couple of locks on it – my kind of canal! The locks here are quite deep but they look well maintained and operated without much drama.

We sailed from our lovely quiet spot a short way (about 90 minutes) to the Aqueduct marina where we pumped out and filled up with Diesel and water. The service pontoon was first rate and the pump out machine was one of the best I’ve used and cleared our tank in under 2 minutes! Mind you £24 for a pump out you have to do yourself is a lot of money – so it needed to impress!

We left the marina and sailed for a little further down the branch until we moored near to the next lock – when I say near I mean about a mile from it!

We then had a walk up to the Venetian Marina where we went into their small shop and had a look around. We will stay the night here, then tomorrow we will sail to Nantwich, there is water on the way, so it is all working out just fine at the moment.
