18th – 20th July 2019 – Nether Heyford

After our escapade at Weedon (or should that be poodon) we arranged to go into a Marina for a few days to meet up with Ron and Lyn for our little jaunt down towards Milton Keynes. We have a few days to kill before we stay at the Marina so we decided to moor up at a few places on route. The first place we come to is called Nether Heyford and it has a craft centre and a one stop shop (and pubs of course). There is water on route, so we filled up so we were good for a few days. The one issue with Nether Heyford is there is no water from there until the marina, and we will be stopping another night before we get to the marina. So, unfortunately, we will need to turn the boat round, sail back to the water, fill up then turn around again and sail back! Still, I need the practice!
Nether Heyford is quite nice and peaceful (apart from the trains) but the craft center is nearly a mile away and poor old Honey is struggling, It turns out the replacement tablets for the steroids are not cutting it, and she is getting quite lame. Anyway, the One Stop shop is about ½ a mile from the canal.

Of course we tested the pub out – and it was really lovely! Very unusual and stuffed with all kinds of trinkets and oddments. Oh, and the beer was good too.
So a few nights here then we do the water thing then onwards towards the marina. We will stop around Bugbrooke for another night before sailing into the marina.
