Plenty of Locks to Wilmcote

24th July 2019 – Wilmcote.

The first of 11 locks we need to get through on our way to Wilmcote

We set of quite early in the morning, a little apprehensive after our experience yesterday with the first few locks on the canal. We soon forgot all about that and really started to enjoy ourselves. Many of the locks were set in our favour as there were plenty of boats coming down into Stratford – so that saved a lot of time. There are also quite a few volunteers helping on some of the locks, which really makes a difference.

The locks here typically come in groups of 3-5 locks, close to one another
Arty Moored in Wilcote on a 48 hour mooring

We made it to Wilmcote and found some 48 hour moorings, complete with rings. Its really nice here and we strolled into Wilmcote and went to the place where the mobile post office parks. There is a little shop here with a few provisions, and when I went in and asked the chap behind the counter what time the post office would be there on the next day, he asked if I was Christopher Cullen!! It turns out that the post office had called in the morning and left the package with him! It was my prescription which Dee had posted to me.

Naturally, we tested out the local watering hole! It was ok and the beer was in fine condition! So all we need to do now is hunker down for the night and wait for the part for the toilet to turn up!

The forecast is for thunderstorms and potentially high winds!
