3rd October 2019 – Rugeley

Thursday was a grey and drizzly day with the sort of rain that just never gets going but leaves everything damp and cold all the same. Still, the sailing was still delightful and easy going with no locks and a single width tunnel (sort of) that is always fun if you meet someone coming in the other direction.

Started off residential.
Then Industrial and very narrow in places.

Lots of active industry
Then it gets a bit more leafy again
Some lovely bridges
Arty moored at Rigeley

We had no idea what to expect from Rugeley, and we were very surprised and pleased with what we found. It’s a lovely town with quite a few shops and a huge Tesco’s and Morrisons right by the canal – so time to top up our already substantial supplies!
There is also a wool shop, and just opposite there was an old fashioned hardware store with loads of bits and bobs in. So Wendy and I split up and spent an hour or so browsing.

On the way into town we passed by a house where the owner clearly has a diagnoseable obsession with garden ornaments – but fair play to them – they’ve done a good job!
