29th July 2020 – Tixall Wide

A beautiful sail from Acton Russel took us to Tixall and the Tixall Wide part of the canal. Here, the original land owner insisted that any canal through his land must be disguised as a lake – and that gives us this lovely, peaceful spot where the canal is wide enough for any boat to do a complete turn easily. The weather was pants and very blustery which made the trip interesting. Soon we were sailing through the last lock on the Staffy and our next stop will be on the Trent and Mersey once again. It’s been a wonderful trip around the four counties and we’ve loved every bit of it.
