2nd/3rd August 2019 – Welford

So, after Crick we decided to take a slight detour down the Welford arm of the Grand Unon canal. It is just over a mile and has a single shallow lock to navigate and it has a pub at the end of it!!
Honestly, the Leicester arm of the canal so far has been absolutely spectacular and we have sailed through some of the most beautiful countryside since we started. Welford takes it up a notch – absolutely wonderful!
Once we arrived, we went though the lock and then moored almost immediately under some trees to save us from the heat – yes, the sun is generally shining with the odd downpour.

Did I mention how pretty Welford is?

Yes people, we have wildlife!

All I said was I thought I was getting the hang of this sailing lark…

Wonderful Countryside
We liked it so much we decided to stay an extra day. So, day one – pub, day two Afternoon teas!! Its a tough gig but we’ll struggle through…

Did I mention there is a pub?
