Willington

30th August 2019 – 1st September 2019 – Willington

Arty moored in Willington.

So from Shardlow there was quite a journey to get to Willington, only a few locks but it seemed to take quite a while and we were pretty bushed when we finally arrived. Willington is where the marina is where we will stay on the boat over the winter, so it is an opportunity for us to check that out too. We have a space reserved for us, we just need to tell them when we want it.

On the way Wendy decided to have a time at the helm. Naturally I was calm and relaxed as we sailed down the canal. She is perfectly capable of sailing the boat and does a great job and you can see just how exhilarating it was….!

Caroline and Steve checking out the local facilities

Willington was quite full. In fact Steve and Caroline moored a little way further towards the town than us, which in hindsight was a good thing as they ended up on the Visitor moorings which are limited to 48 hours, whereas we we on the standard 14 day mooring. That suited us as we now have quite a bit of time to kill before we moor up and go to Swindon. We were only about 200 meters further from the town and the mooring we had was pleasant enough. Naturally, we tested the local watering hole with Steve and Caroline helping to evaluate the local waters.

On the next day we went along to the Marina where we will be spending the winter to see what it was like, and it certainly passed muster with flying colours!
